Patient & Visitor The Regional Medical Center at Memphis, commonly known as The MED, is an acute-care teaching hospital that serves a six-state region within 150 miles of Memphis, Tennessee. We are proud of what The MED has stood for through the years – a pioneer in medical breakthroughs as well as a safety net for those who are unable to get quality health care elsewhere. Known best for our cutting-edge trauma and burn centers, but home to 50 areas of specialty, we focus on providing patient-centric medical care and support in coping with traumatic illnesses, injuries and other high-risk medical conditions. Our areas of specialty are referred to as Centers of Excellence. In addition to our trauma and burn centers, these include: wounds, high-risk obstetrics, neonatal medicine, sickle cell, HIV/AIDs and bariatrics. We are also proud to offer an integrated delivery system that includes ten primary care outpatient clinics located throughout the Memphis area known as Health Loop. Outpatient services – called MedPlex – are also offered on The MED’s primary campus. What’s more, The MED is home to the Rehabilitation Hospital of Memphis, known for its innovative approaches to patient rehabilitation resulting in quick and complete patient recovery. The MED’s medical communications center (MEDCOM) facilitates critical ground and air ambulance-to-hospital medical communications, because when it’s an emergency, every second counts. This vital communications network ensures that your care begins properly before you even arrive at The MED. With the comprehensive life-saving services that The MED provides, it’s no wonder that residents of the Mid-South overwhelmingly prefer The MED as their health care resource when it matters most.
