The MED: Now in Compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation

CMS (Department of Health and Human Services – Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) has advised that The MED is in compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation and CMS has “discontinued monitor ship of our hospital and has restored our JCAHO deemed status.” A notice was published on December 28 in the Commercial Appeal notifying the public that all termination action has been withdrawn. This removes the threat of loss of Medicare and Medicaid (TennCare) funding for services provided to our patients.

This action is the result of decisive improvement actions taken by the Board, medical staff, MED administration and staff supported by Mayor Wharton, UT, UTMG and assistance received from Methodist/LeBonheur Healthcare. We will continue to improve our processes at The MED to ensure the quality and appropriateness of patient care, and comply with the Condition of Participation and Accreditation Standards.
